Malcolm Dedman 1948

Bornin London in1948, Malcolm Dedman was initially self-taught, having started to compose whenhe was 12.He had formal compositionlessons with Patric Standford at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in1974-75, but did not receive a formal qualification in music until 2005, whenhe passed his Masters Degree in Composing Concert Music at ThamesValleyUniversity withdistinction.Majorperformances of his music include piano and chamber music as well as a ChristmasCantata. Recently, he has had a performance of his 'Danses Concertantes' performed by the Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmomnic orchestra in Durban, South Africa. He has also gained severalcomposition awards, including the Stroud Festival and the Recontres Internationales de Chant Choral.
