About Elektrostatic
Established in 2007, Elektrostatic is the Bristol Ensemble’s contemporary music project.

It is directed by composer Richard Barnard in partnership with Arcomis. Based at the Arnolfini and Colston Hall 2, we produce innovative, high-quality live events and workshops bringing core players from the Bristol Ensemble alongside performers, composers and artists at the forefront of contemporary practice.
Events have featured Eighth Blackbird, Howard Skempton, Colin Currie, Gabriel Prokofiev, Juice vocal trio, Mikhail Karikis, Philip Mead, Get the Blessing and visual artist Kathy Hinde.
This season will see Bristol's leading music venues working together to present fantastic events which connect modern 'classics' to brand new and lesser known works. The Arnolfini Elektrostatic shows this year are a central part of Arnolfini's 50th Celebration. Built around archive programmes from Arnolfini's past, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Jane Manning, Gavin Bryars and others will introduce or perform early work from visits in the 1970s. We will also feature new work from composers created in response.
